Are you a child…at heart?

Ahhh, Summer! And oh to be a kid again. When you’re a kid, almost everything is new. You’re learning every day (even when school’s out). Days that lasted, well, an entire day (although they sure felt longer). My kids have discovered Calvin & Hobbes cartoon books and are living a lot like one of Bill Watterson’s title’s, “The Days Are Just Packed”.

Kids just have a sense of wonder and awe that can freshen your outlook on life. They can energize and exhaust. Their innocence can cause you to protect them. And you always want the best for them. And what’s the best for them? For us? Jesus.

One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them. Mark 10:13-16

While there are always opportunities to minister to children, we have a very special concentrated opportunity this month. We will be hosting a Vacation Bible School (VBS) the week of June 13-17. The theme verse for LifeWay’s Big Apple Adventure is “So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.” (Romans 10:17). We sure hope and pray that there will be many who come to faith, call on the name of the Lord and be saved. And you can help (read Romans 10:13-15).

So if you’re a child (ages 3-11) get registered and get ready for an amazing week. Or if you’re simply a child at heart (ages 12 & up) pray about getting involved, contact the leadership team and get ready for an amazing week, too. “May the Lord richly bless both you and your children.” Psalm 115:12
