Hello… how has your day been? Take a moment here and consider just one day of your life. What were some of the more memorable events of the day? (Go ahead and write some of them down. I’ll wait.)
Now think again. What made them memorable? Were they punctuated by joy, grief, indifference? Was someone else involved? Would you consider any of them to be a “divine appointment”?
Think about Paul and Silas as they went about in the city of Philippi. They were preaching the gospel. They had just freed a girl, in the name of Jesus, from demon-possession. And because that removed any of her masters’ means of income, they incited a mob against them. They were then beaten and locked in stocks in the inner dungeon. Then,
Around midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.
Acts 16:25 NLT
Paul and Silas remained true to God and in the end, God delivered them from their captor, and their captor was even delivered; saved, he and his whole household!
I’d like to share part of a song with you by Sarah Kelly, titled “Living Hallelujah”:
Who am I that You came to earth for me to die on a tree / And who are You / Son of man, Son of God / Yes I believe it’s true / More than words I bring to You / May all I say and may all I do be…
Hallelujah hallelujah / May everything about me be Hallelujah to my King / Hallelujah hallelujah / May everything about me be Hallelujah
And it’s all so clear / I was born to worship
And just what is hallelujah? It is “Praise the Lord!” Is your life a “Praise the Lord!” to the King? I pray that as you live your life before a watching world, your life will be a fragrant offering to God (2 Corinthians 2:15).
