This coming month, there will be some milestones met: graduation from High School/College/University/Seminary, promotion to the next grade/school/job title, new to motherhood, even a new morning of mercy. So what will you do next?
Commit your actions to the LORD,
and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3 NLT
Always a great place to start. Have you prayerfully dedicated your choice of college/career/calling to the Lord? Have you committed your all to His all? How about the next few moments in t/his day. It’s easy to think about praying for those big decisions, but what about those day-to-day tasks?
I’m a little embarrassed to say it, but Jill and I have some of our dates at the grocery store after the kids are in bed. It’s not that bad; quiet, dimly lit after 10pm, no nagging, and nostalgic music from our high school days. (OK, maybe I should be more embarrassed). On one of these shopping trips, we had been discussing finances and I remember deciding to pray about our shopping trip while in the condiments aisle. We found more things on sale (that we had planned to buy) than ever before! Now why don’t we do that more often? I don’t know; we’re working on it. And we were very thankful that God helped not only in providing our needs, but also stretching His provision.
Whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. Colossians 3:17 NLT
And I guess that’s just it: Whatever you do or say… We are Christ’s ambassadors. We should honor Him by acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God (Micah 6:8).
So what’s next? Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord,… It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23–24 NIV)
