My kids are noisy. Noisy kids that take up a lot of space. Noisy kids that give Jill and I a lot to laugh/talk/think/pray about. And when they’re gone, it’s quiet. Really quiet. Frankly, I don’t like it.
This past week, my family was split up across 3 cities and 2 time zones. Rebekah was with the Youth Group on their LA Mission trip; Jill, Caleb and I were in Denver for a State Little League Tournament; and Mallory and Bethany were with the grandparents (what a blessing). Our schedules really came between us; even our sitters had to get a sitter one night to accommodate their schedule.
So it goes with summertime. A time when the kids are out of school and any sort of routine goes by the wayside for a while. Many in our church family have had numerous trips near and far for family and fun (and hopefully both at the same time). While I know you’ve made some indelible memories, you must know this too: you’ve been missed.
Read 1 Corinthians 12:12-26. As the body of Christ we are united by His Spirit. As a church family, we have been put together for a season and a purpose. We are each important to one another and are invaluable.
I hope you were able to “ketchup” on each other’s lives at our Annual Picnic and Pool Party. If not, there’s another chance coming soon as school begins again: our Blast-Off BBQ! It’s a great way to discover ministry opportunities at RCC. Come hungry—for the food and the fellowship.
It is such a special time to be all together again. The great memories made were being recounted even before we got home (and I’m sure it will be a while before we hear all the stories). Our first meal at home with all 6 of us around the table was precious. Who’s missing? No one.
All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. 1 Corinthians 12:27
